It is essential for Catena Media to partner with organisations that align with our strategy and ensure that each agreement fits the overall bigger picture. That is why it was a natural alignment for Catena Media to partner with one of the largest news publishers in the USA, Lee Enterprises.
This three-year partnership involves Catena Media becoming the exclusive gaming partner for all Lee Enterprises brands, whose reach includes 77 newspapers and online news websites in 26 states. We are thrilled to work alongside a leading provider of news and information and write high-quality, informative content addressing online sports betting and casinos.
We caught up with Fred Roman, Strategic Partnerships Consult, and discussed some of the behind-the-scenes efforts and discussed the partnership process.
Who was responsible for this success?
Fred: "Our Internal Partnership Team is the driving force behind our success in this space. Led by Althea Gouker and her team of talented individuals, they’ve been referred to as the ‘96 Yankees. Our Legal Department, Lynn Handler-Cohen and Kelli Bartlett, also deserves credit for working on this deal."
How did this partnership evolve?
Fred: "We started speaking to Lee Enterprises around five months ago, so this has been in the works for a long time. From the start, Lee Enterprise’s team really understood what kind of partnership we wanted to develop. We strategically look at long-term potential rather than just making a quick buck."
Why is this an excellent match for Catena Media?
Fred: "Lee Enterprises and Catena Media are passionate about producing quality content for their audiences. We are both committed to achieving success by providing our users with the best possible informative and engaging content. Beyond just creating content, having journalistic integrity while trying to earn a profit has been extremely complicated for the modern newspaper industry. Our objective is to provide our publishing partners with a new sustainable revenue stream while writing quality content that increases their monthly audience. We are a great match because we also have the best team of writers and editors in the industry."
What are you and the team looking forward to most about working with Lee Enterprises?
Fred: "We are excited about helping Lee Enterprises monetize its sports betting more effectively. The partnership's long-term goal is to create something that lasts many years."
