Catena Media’s premium football publishing website, Squawka, has been named as a finalist in two categories at the Football Content Awards 2020.
The brand, which boasts a vast reach on all major social media platforms – including over one million followers on Twitter – will compete for the ‘best media organisation’ accolade alongside household names including BBC, BT Sport, Sky Sports and The Athletic.
The Squawka team’s shareable and engaging social content, primarily delivered via statistical visualisations and graphics, has also earned a nomination for the ‘best in social (organisation)’ category after over 100,000 votes were cast in the nomination process.
Isabel Hale, Head of Sports UK, said of the achievement: “Squawka is honoured to be recognised as a finalist once again for the Football Content Awards. The beauty of these awards is that this recognition is not only from our peers but also the fans and users that are so key to our hearts. Football means so much to so many and we are proud to be such a big part of the eco-system.”
Having been acquired by Catena Media in December 2017, Squawka has significantly grown its presence in the highly competitive football market and won the Premium Publisher award at the Football Blogging Awards in 2019.
